A new event has been added to the Events page.

Event name: Slide Show: Coal mining in North Derbyshire & South Yorkshire

Date & time: 12/11/2014 at 07:30

Details: A unique opportunity to take a trip back in time to when collieries were in abundance, located all over North Derbyshire. Visits will be made to various collieries, including Renishaw Park, Markham, Westhorpe, Arkwright, Bolsover, Creswell and others. These were owned by NCB, however, there were also private drift mines, and visits will also be made to Doe Lea Colliery(mainly underground photos), Strathfield Colliery(Between Clay Cross and Alfreton), etc. A more recent visit will also be made to Orgreave Opencast Site in South Yorkshire. Finally, a partial exploration of Hollingwood Common Canal and Mine, Near Chesterfield.
Meet: 7.15 for 7.30pm(Finish 9.30pm approx).
Venue: Miners Standard Inn, Winster(Located on B5056).
An optional buffet is planned(See notes).
PDMHS meet, all welcome.
