The Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway will be holding its second "Quirks & Curiosities" event 28th March - 1st May 2017, see
http://www.festrail.co.uk/content/publish/news/515.shtml

Amongst the many Quirks & Curiosities visiting over the long weekend will be two mine locomotives:

'HISSING SID' - a replica of a 19th century Lishman & Young 2ft gauge compressed air locomotive built for use at the Earl of Durham’s Lambton Collieries in the north east of England.

'EIMCO 401' - EIMCO Works No. 401-216 built in 1968 at EIMCO's Salt Lake City works in Utah, USA. Powered by a 20hp EIMCO ‘Type 200’ 5-cylinder rotary air motor, it apparently started its working life in Colorado and finished with a mining contractor in British Columbia who used it until 2012.

It is hoped that these two locos will be operational in the Ff&WHR's Minfordd yard during the event.

Beamish's replica of the steam loco Samson is also expected to be present at the event. The original was built by Stephen Lewin of Poole in 1874 and worked at London Lead Company's Cornish Hush mine in the valley of Howden Burn, County Durham.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
