Not strictly mining although there are some mine and quarry shots like the Tufa Quarries in Naples. Some photos here:

The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

I like the comment...

Sewers are designated confined spaces and should not be entered unless trained, authorised, risk assessed and properly equipped. There is potential for toxic and explosive gasses to build up. I work in the industry and would never do what these guys are doing.

Hope he never strays off the Daily Mail website to find this one......

Personally, I think they are mad.

Low oxygen and high CO2 are very nasty things.

I remember seeing an urbex / draining site that gave ratings to sewers of 1 to 5 for various things... Two of which were 'smell' and 'lumpy bits'... I don't know though if 5 for both meant no smell and no lumpy bits or that it semt like a skunk's armpit and there were more lumpy bits than you could shake a stick at...
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

I prefer my lumps very solid, overhead and weighing 100tons or so, at least you know where they came from.
Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.

I hardly think we're the right people to be telling him his hobby is daft.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
